Qualifications
You want your child to get the very best education possible. A good teacher can open a child's mind and help put them in a situation to learn a great deal. When you start looking at the different preschools in the area, you may want to check the credentials of the staff on hand. Keep in mind that not every single staff member needs to have an educational background, but each staff member should be great with kids. Instead look at the head teacher's credentials. You want a teacher that has gone through university training.
Curriculum
It is important that the teacher has a set curriculum to teach all of the kids. It is important to think that these young children are still very young, and therefore they are hard to teach. So, the curriculum can be flexible. However, a teacher should have different skills prepared to be taught each day. A vital part of the curriculum at early ages is the time to interact with other children. Be sure that there is time set apart for playing and interacting with the other children in the class.
Discipline
With such young kids in the program, there will be some behavior problems with most of the children. Whether the children are having a hard time learning that they need to share, or they are simply rebelling against what the teacher says, there will have to be disciplined during the day. You want to ask the teacher their approach to discipline and understand what will happen when your child acts out. Be sure that the discipline that your child will encounter at preschool aligns with your style of discipline. If you take the time to understand the preschool, you will make a wise choice for you and your children.
